It is difficult to find an appropriate word to describe the dynamic duo that is Zebbler Encanti Experience. “Innovative”seems too mild. “Bass Music” is definitely missing some pieces of the puzzle. “Extreme Audio-Visual Symphony” is the most accurate description of the performance that took place aboard the Mass Bay Lines New Boat on Thursday, July 12th. Audiophile Ben “Encanti” Cantil and visual production wizard Peter “Zebbler” Berdrofsky set sail in Boston Harbor for a second year in a row for their FreakQuensea Boat Cruise with a crew of multi-colored curiosities and creatures in tow. Supported by Schlang, another digital duet comprised of Rob Uslan, A.K.A. Supersillyus, and Jasha Tull, A.K.A. Space Jesus, there was no lack of heavy hitting beats on the top deck.

The lower deck of the ship was transformed into a luminous wonderland of original artwork. Presented by the Glitch Gallery, a Charlestown based organization dedicated to 2D, 3D, and new media installations, Exhibition 007 featured artwork based around the creative use of light as a medium. UV paintings by
Love Tribe’s Kolomo Jordan and Chase Hanna Creations lined both walls. They were accompanied by the EL wire adorned Project Anonymask courtesy of Boston native V. Kash (Evan Lukash), temperature sensitive light sculpture “Changes” by accomplished tech artist Mark Kreigsman, “Hexagon Cosmos” from the fabrication wizards at The Reliquarium, and many other fascinatingly creative pieces.

The Zebbler Studios piece, appropriately dubbed “Luciferin,” was a hypnotically nightmarish creation that looked both human and alien simultaneously. Reaching out to spectators with twinkling tentacles in just about every texture imaginable, the piece truly captured the bizarre aesthetic the Zebbler crew is known for.

Originality is not a concept that Zebbler Encanti Experience take lightly. Both performers are outspoken supporters of artists who truly push themselves to create beyond what humanity has already come up with. This event, a floating concert gallery, was original in every sense of the word, and highlighted local creatives in a fun and interactive way. Up next, Z.E.E. takes their ReFreak tour on a cross country road trip, stopping in Atlanta, Dallas, Denver, Las Vegas, and many more besides, culminating at Burning Man.
