New heat from Russ Liquid, one of the most talented producers on the west coast. Filling his tracks with organic, melodic samples and crunchy beats, he grabs your ear immediately as something special. His work has only been getting tighter as he experiments and collaborates with others, as he does here with another of our favorites, Thriftworks.
Evolving the art of the hip hop beat and electronic music in general, Headtron has become one of the most respected crews in the industry. Russ is a big part of that, and this is a fresh taste of what makes him so unique. There are fewer horns than in his other mixes, but more dynamic work with vocals and futuristic effects. He killed it at both Symbiosis and Lightning in a Bottle this year, more on that in those reviews.. Enjoy this in the sun!
