For those who are attending Electric Forest Music Festival in 2015 for the very first time, you picked the right year. For those who are returning, welcome home.
People come from all over the world to witness the magic that occurs within the Sherwood Forest for this 4 day long music festival. Every year, the wonderment takes place at the Double JJ Ranch in Rothbury, MI., where fairies come out to dance alongside the vibrantly lit trees held together by interactive art installations. Electric Forest earned it’s reputation for having the ultimate heightened scenery and sound experience, while coexisting and contributing to it’s rich green environment.
Year after year, festival goers wait on the edge of their seats to quickly purchase their tickets to guarantee a spot in the forest. This year’s ticket sales exceeded the high numbers of past years; marking a new record in box office sales. A heavy dose of tickets were purchased before the lineup was even released; however, only moments after the first and only phase was exposed (aside from the Curated Additions), tickets sold out completely.
On the whole, it’s one of the more enticing lineups we’ve seen from Electric Forest, and if anything, an indicator of the success the festival has had over the past five years.
While EF regulars like The String Cheese Incident and Bassnectar find themselves atop the bill, Skrillex returns to the festival for the first time since 2011. Each performance contributes to the eclectic mix, from modern beats to classic jams drawn from the time when the festival was once named Rothbury.
The multi-platinum, internationally recognized artist, Flume earned his headline spot and will be performing for the first time at E.F. this year. Claude Vonstroke will be providing the Dirtybird fix for this years roster, along with Carl Cox, Pete Tong, and MJ Cole for all the techno and deep house lovers. Shpongle (Simon Postford DJ Set), Odesza, Phutureprimitive and Russ Liquid will bring a rich swaree of culturally infused psychedelic sounds and experience. Slow Magic’s uniquely light-hearted, electronica is a performance that I am personally very excited to see.
As of today, the full 2015 roster has been revealed with some stunning additions, which make up the Curated Events Series. Featuring the Future classic at Sherwood Court with performances by Flume, Four Tet, Wave Racer, Mr. Carmack and more. Bass Rush will be held at the Tripolee stage, featuring ground shaking performances from Flux Pavilion, Datsik, Mt Eden and Vaski. You can find out more on this years Curated Events by going to the Electric Forest website.
Electric Forest provides opportunities for creative individuals to impact the design and production of the Forest community. The Plug-In center holds various contests for sticker design, installation building, unmediated photography and beyond to feature fresh minds and bring a new perspective to the table.
For all attending Electric Forest 2015, prepare yourselves for a spectacular experience filled with wonderment and adventure!
