Camp VII was my first. First festival, first tDB show, first moonrock, first violent rain storm brought on by the gods of Indian Lookout, first experience taking photos at a live music event with a point-and-shoot. I was a self-proclaimed n00b who just happened to dress the part, and that festival quickly catapulted me into a world of people and music far beyond my wildest imaginations. Put it this way; I found and obsessed over EOTO‘s studio albums on the iTunes Store before I even knew what a 3-day festival entailed.
Experiencing The Disco Biscuits‘ signature trance dance via Conspirator at The Independent in San Francisco on February 12 shot me straight back home to Boston and Mariaville. Conspirator is The Disco Biscuits minus Barber and Allan and plus KJ Sawka and Chris Michetti. As soon as the beat kicked in in the front row side-right with camera in hand, my face lit up, thoughts of friends back east rushed in, and Brownie just happened to be grinning back.
As much as I love the west coast music scene, it felt good to get down to something that wasn’t cosmically tripped out and mind-bending on this night. The crowd got a taste of old favorites and powerful new material off their recent album Unleashed. Check the photos below!
