Santa Cruz Music Festival
is back again and ready to take over the downtown area of Santa Cruz for the third year in a row! On October 10th, this quaint, picturesque suburb of Northern California will be hosting 14 stages with over 120 acts. A universal wristband gets you into all 10 downtown venues. Inspired by the ever-expanding South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, the festival was started by three music-loving locals who saw the potential for a multi-venue, multi-genre music marathon in Santa Cruz.

This year, the home-grown festival is bigger and better than ever, with new elements including a silent disco, two areas of vendors, and a lecture panel. The lecture panel, Santa Cruz Speaks, features talks on Sustainability, Cannabis, Music, and the state of Santa Cruz. The latter even includes Mayor Don Lane as a panelist, a testament to the stellar relationship the festival organizers have with the town.

The musical acts on the lineup, which sports some international headliners, as well as boasting nearly 70% local talent, span genres that will appeal to a crowd of all ages. Big names include RJD2, G Jones, Lafa Taylor, ChrisB., and local favorite, Little John. Continuing to ride their wave of popularity up from SoCal, Desert Hearts DJs Mikey Lion and Lee Reynolds will bring the house vibes. The best dance party of the day may just come from Delhi 2 Dublinwhose intercultural, genre-blending, electronic, hip-hop sound is soulful, invigorating, and unlike anything you’ve heard before.

Metal heads are sure to be pleased by the lineup at The 418 Project, exemplifying the inclusive and diverse array of talent 12092607_10101983613539428_619193654_nthe SCMF organizers are tapped into. The Frogman Experience, a bass-heavy psychedelic funk opera will be decorating and opening a full day of phenomenal acts at The Catalyst’s Atrium stage. For those interested in something a little less out-there, be sure to catch The Coffis Brothers, an independent, Americana band native to the Santa Cruz Mountains. The Blue Lagoon will host a string of rock bands through the afternoon, while some of the Wormhole Wednesday crew rock Cafe Mare, one of the festival’s free venues, with their epic west coast bass.

With so many different acts to choose from, there’s something for everyone at the Santa Cruz Music Festival. It’s sure to continue to grow in coming years, so don’t wait to join on in on this heart-felt endeavor!
