Dopapod & lespecial Labor Day Weekend Concert Cruise On The Boston Harbor
Friday, August 31st – Boston, MA: Boston bred bands Dopapod and lespecial will be rocking on water aboard a Rocks On! Concert Cruise that will set sail at 7pm sharp from Rowes Wharf on the Boston Harbor on Friday, August 31, 2012. Made up of some of Boston’s finest musicians, the two groups have been spiraling out of the Northeast and rearranging the national landscape of live music.
Dopapod has been quickly establishing themselves in the jam scene as one of the country’s top live improvisational acts, showcasing their unique brand of heavy hitting, intricately technical, yet rhythmically driven experimental funk-rock . The quartet is riding the heels of their latest studio album, Drawn Onward, a composed journey through their distinguishable sonic crafting that the Berklee born band has been continually honing for the past three years. RVA Magazine says, “They are what would happen if Zappa, Yes, Deadmau5, and The Meters all sat down for a cup of coffee.” Their eclectic sound has brought them to the stages of high profile festivals such as Gathering Of the Vibes, Camp Bisco, and Catskill Chill, as well as surpsise sets at Burning Man, Bonnaroo, and Mountain Jam. Fans in Boston are always in for a treat as it is where they first started developing a devoted fanbase that has seen the group selling out the Middle East Downsatirs in Cambridge, MA multiple times. The Boston Boat Cruise will serve as their last Boston date for the rest of 2012.
Supporting them will be lespecial, a band on a similar trajectory, melding a dizzying array of sounds from afrobeat, to trip hop, and funk. Most recently, the trio (together since an early age) released a live album compiled from their Brothership Connection Tour, giving online fans a glimpse of a sound that’s meant to be experienced.
