March 14: Auto Orbit & Cosmic Dust Bunnies

Auto Orbit – Auto Orbit offers a unique variety of live-electronica with detailed song writing and famously high-energy shows. Classified by a dance/funk rhythm section, soulful guitar, and thought-provoking keyboard work, Auto Orbit’s members have combined decades of seeing live music with their training in operatic vocals, classical piano, sound design, and engineering, to a create a high-quality, multidimensional show that music goers of the 21st century are actively seeking out.

Cosmic Dust Bunnies – Cosmic Dust Bunnies are a very unique electronic/jam stlyle band that layer in influences from Reggae, Dub, Funk, Rock, Pop, and everything between. The band hits the stage with a fury and an ultimate goal of getting everybody up and moving. With a desire to never let a show drag, the songs often flow from one to another sometimes encompassing entire sets. Chosen as one of CT’s top bands, CDB performed at B.O.M.B. Fest with many national acts including Snoop Dogg, Weezer, State Radio, Coheed and Cambria and many more. Having recently shared the stage with acts such as Perpetual Groove, The Join, Future Rock, Orchard Lounge, Brothers Past, Biodiesel, Otherwise, Jeff Bujak, and following the release of their first self-titled album, there is excitement for more shows, more music, and more festivals.

March 21 – NguzuNguzu, Salva, & Zola (of LostinSound)

Salva – Los Angeles-based producer, remixer, DJ. Head of Frite Nite label, publishing and events. Red Bull Music Academy Alumni.

NguzuNguzu – There’s a good chance you’ve heard the work of Los Angeles producers Daniel Pineda and Asma Maroof, aka Nguzunguzu, even if you don’t know it. They handled mixing duties on M.I.A.’s Vicki Leekx mixtape that dropped at the tail end of 2010 and Maroof also serves as M.I.A.’s current tour DJ. Vicki Leekx was the capper to a year in which they released two EPs, Nguzunguzu and Mirage, both of which drew from Chicago footwork and house-infused sonic strains of UK bass music, among other styles.

Another apparent influence on the duo is contemporary R&B, which can be found all over their excellent recent mix for online art magazine DIS, The Perfect Lullaby. The mix matches choice cuts from artists like Monica, R. Kelly, and Amerie with the Angolan dance genres of Kizomba and Zouk, displaying a reverence for the source material while also refashioning it in a new and refreshing context. It’s a style that can also be heard on their recent promotional mix for a European tour, and it could carry over to Nguzunguzu’s forthcoming EP for like-minded NYC producer Kingdom’s new label, due out later this year.

Zola – Zola is Charles Mazzola, a writer, inciter, and Resident DJ of the LiS/Use Your Head home party crew. He was captured by the Electronic Dance Music scene and while traveling abroad for several months, his heart stayed in IBIZA. Alas, he is a lover of all forms of music, especially the eclectic. Living, working, and attending as many shows as possible-spreading the word of amazing and underground music. Charles regularly plays established nights around Boston, NY and RI and with touring bands.

March 28 – Nadis Warriors & Supersillyus

Nadis Warriors – With a sound that defies genre definition, the Nadis Warriors are taking the country by storm, showcasing their unique sound and scene changing message to the masses. Their eclectic mix of musical layers incorporates Tibetan singing bowls, tablas, live guitar and keys to create an electronic excursion through healing and dance.

Supersillyus – Supersillyus is an electronic musician and producer based in Allston, MA. His first full length release, Grampaspaceshuttle, tickled the ears of the electronic community and earned him a spot on LostinSound.org’s Top 5 Newcomer Albums of 2010.

He spent over a year meticulously crafting his second record Tesselations, which was released through Base Trip Records. With this epic double album, Supersillyus allows listeners to explore highly evolved and extensively layered soundscapes, while shaking their asses to a tasty mix of tribal drums, swirling synths, and the occasional marimba solo. Tesselations takes the listener on a journey past boundaries of IDM, world beat, and dub, making use of traditions as old as Sanskrit chants or a child’s Saxaboom.

Supersillyus is quickly emerging as a pioneer of psychedelic genre-bending, and his whimsical sound offers a unique look inside the mind of a musical wizard. At Camp Bisco X, he was met with great support from fans, and critical acclaim in the Weekly Dig, which read, “At a festival full of standard dub DJs, who sound like they would loop the same samples and monotonous basslines forever until the Apocalypse does us all a favor and silences them with flying rubble, Supersillyus breaks the mold. Finally, something new.”
