The Rise of Westcott Nation

The upstate New York music scene is one that flourishes all summer long, with multiple scenic outdoor events and festivals. As the beautiful weather begins to fade, the amount of available venues that bring in the acts we want to see does as well. Unfortunately, only a handful exist throughout the central and upstate New York areas. In Syracuse, however, a venue called The Westcott Theater, which opened in 2008, is making moves to become one of the premier concert venues in this region.

The Westcott Theater is located at 524 Westcott Street in Syracuse, New York. This 700 person capacity venue has done nothing but great things for an area hungry for music. Each year they continue to step up the game by bringing in more and more acts, which allows the attendees to make these shows more than just a night out- rather, a gathering of good friends and good vibes at Westcott Nation. Over the past year they have brought in acts such as Umphrey’s Mcgee, Lotus, EOTO, Pretty Lights, Bassnectar, Tea Leaf Green and many more. This venue offers a great low key, intimate vibe that is sadly becoming increasingly hard to find. The venue also offers cheap drink deals, and even brews their own ale sponsored by Magic Hat called the “Westcott Ale.” If you have not been able to make it out to a show there yet, I suggest checking out their incredible and affordable lineup of shows.
