Evolutionista is the design and music moniker of independent Oakland artist Griffin Crafts. How a DJ like this can be so anonymous with all these clowns running around hot on tour is beyond me. With a handful of lush originals and a growing collection of mixtapes, Crafts has a great ear for rich, melodic beats, unique drum patterns and bass lines that keep things interesting. His downtempo IDM style draws from many influences and genres, mixing organic with synthetic sounds and shifting tempos for balance and variety. He keeps a distinct flow and progression to his sets, and his track selection shows he knows what’s good.
