After participating in the life-changing experience that was Sound Tribe Sector 9‘s Re:Generation Festival in late June at the breathtaking Horning’s Hideout in northern Oregon, we are absolutely amped for this weekend’s STS9 run in Colorado. While the past few years were certainly not Sound Tribe‘s best, with their overemphasis of whiny guitar lines in ’07 and then into electronic over-reliance from 2008-10, take it at face value from this long-time fan that the boys are back on their game and ready to once again blow people’s minds with their visionary progressive music that meshes instrumentals with electronic infusion in the way that only they know how. Combined with the recovery of bassist David Murphy from sinus cancer and the imminent arrival of 2012, Sound Tribe Sector 9 is ready to once again steal the show. The run officially starts on Thursday night, September 8th, with an STS9 solo show at Denver’s Ogden Theater with live painting by J Garcia and Alvin Gregorio. Doors open @ 8.
The run continues on Friday and Saturday, September 9th and 10th, at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre in nearby Morrison, CO. If you have not yet had the pleasure of an STS9 show at Red Rocks, now is the time!! Opening for the Tribe on Friday are Snoop Dogg and Up Until Now, which should be quite the interesting combination. On Saturday, Savoy and LTJ Bukem will be getting the evening started. The doors for both Red Rocks shows open at 7. Although VIP three day passes have long since sold out, regular three day passes, two night Red Rocks passes, and single night Red Rocks passes are still available but going quick at http://sts9store.com/Store/ChooseTicket.aspx?sid=10503. Get ’em while you still can!
