Doc Riz returns with another fun and diverse ride through electronica. Smooth, sexy, and full of creative mashups and west coast bangers, this mixtape shows his skill and range as a DJ, giving us a great soundtrack for the beginning of the festie season. Punctuated with Nintendo sounds and vocal samples from soul to hip hop to tribal, it travels between gangster beats and delicate, feminine moments, always unpredictable and unique.
This combination of the hard hitting and melodic is what we have come to expect from the doc, and he experiments with this formula here, with less aggressive dubstep than in his other mixes. There are some great up-and-coming artists to discover in there and we could all learn something from the risks Doc Riz takes and passion he puts into his ambitious DJ work. Currently residing in Portland, Oregon, Doc Riz is able to find the time to DJ while studying to get his Ph.D in Cancer Biology! Enjoy the mix!
