Drift Dodgers is a writer and musician who has been in the scene for 15 years at over 100 festivals and thousands of shows. Known for picking good artists, tracks and mixes, he shares what he finds on the road through posts and videos on Lostinsound.
Very little is known about his true identity. A gypsy connoisseur in a custom van, he travels the country in search of community and art, beaming to us from festival grounds, parking lots and beaches. Often in disguise or costume, the best way to identify him is by his unique shamanic dancing, which appears at many sacred gatherings.
Some people ask if Drift Dodgers is one person or many, if whoever is currently writing as Drift Dodgers is the original Drift Dodgers, or if he is long retired but has passed on the name, like the Dread Pirate Roberts. Some ask if Drift Dodgers is an imaginary character, something that is inside of and part of many of us, the rebel spirit, the fearless adventurer, the eternally young, tireless hippie somehow not jaded or locked up yet.
Though this is a fun idea, and true in the sense that he seems to embody these things, we assure you he is a very real person working hard to expand, document and enrich this community.
Music rots when it departs too far from the dance. Poetry atrophies when it gets too far from the music. – Ezra Pound
