Abakus – ‘Silent Geometry’ Album Preview & Exclusive Track

Abakus - Silent Geometry (Album Cover)

Electronic music master mind Russ Davies, a.k.a. Abakus, is set to release his new album Silent Geometry this Thursday, April 4, 2013. The brand new album illustrates a different type of feel from the older Abakus albums; this release evokes more of a downtempo atmospheric feel, with a distinctive stripe of  sci-fi. An emotional story of passion colors every note of this album. I feel that this latest creation appeals to fans of both psychedelic and chillout music.

The first track on the album starts off with light synth chord progressions of deep beauty, combined with melodic vocals that really define the entire album. There is so much diversity throughout the album: from the classical elegance displayed on the track “The Sleeper Must Awaken” to new age downtempo womps like those on ”Angelic” to the sounds on ”I Had A Dream Last Night,” which features acoustic strings with downtempo electro-pop synths, combined with a melodic choir. It’s tracks like these that viscerally evoke the depth of feeling and emotion, painting the picture Russ is trying to express.

We asked what Russ’ studio production set up was like when writing the new album. Russ told us that he wrote the album using Cubase 5, with Fender Telecaster Electrics, Fender Electro Acoustics, and a SE Valve Microphone Preamp; the synths were Massive VST, Omnisphere VST, Sylenth 1 VST, JP8000, & Minimoog.

He also told us that the  album artwork was done by PDF Krew from Hungary!art_122224_big

Lost in Sound is honored to preview an exclusive track featured off of the new album, entitled “A Tale Of The Moon.” The second track on the album, “A Tale Of The Moon” switches it up with a faster tempo but still keeps a warm and natural feel with the vocals.
