D.V.S* [Derek VanScoten] – Album Review: “The Code”
D.V.S* [Derek VanSoten] just released his new album ”The Code” on Daly City Records. This new album touches on a different feel than his last album Coming up for air: Dusk & Dawn. As Dask & Dawn stretched the complex feel from beautiful chill-out melodies to hard, fast-hitting crunk beats, The Code is straight hard-hitting, classic, uptempo D.V.S*. A masterpiece that guarantees to get the crowd moving. This psychedelic guitar-electronica was inspired by the imagery of codes and symbols throughout various cultures and eras.
The track that sticks out the most is the last song entitled “Movement” which features some fast breaks and DnB grooves with a heavy, monster Zoogma-ish sounding guitar shred. A proper closer for an already high energy album…

The 148 bpm track entitled “Shape of the Future” is an excellent example of the new minimal glitch but hard, head-bobbing style The Code is all about. Heavy 808 kicks and a bold powerful guitar tone all up and down this track is what will blow you away here!

Derek co-produced a track entitled Solar Overdrive which combines Michal Menert‘s classic new age hip-hop style with the forcefulness of Derek VanScoten’s signature taste of guitar crunk, which formulates an absolute hit, layered with twangy guitar tones and that old school thump…
