Artist As Shaman

The shaman shed light upon the reflection of the inner world. They led and organized the community through the inward journey towards self-knowledge. It was through their teachings that people were instructed upon the ways of self-discovery. Their knowledge was passed down from generation to generation, connecting them to their ancestors who roamed the celestial realms of eternity. In our modern civilization, this is the role of the artist. They open themselves and reflect the inner world through their work. They become mirrors for the divine to reflect upon. Through that reflection, their work becomes medicinal, healing the cosmic wounds that have been carved by hate and fear into the soul. They dissolve the barriers between people to show the deep connections that are inherent in all creation. As those connections are revealed as we all rise up together. Little by little we awaken as the living cell that is Earth spreads our psychic love to all the nether regions of the cosmos that have been waiting for it ever since they forgot it was always with them.
It is the responsibility of the artist as shaman to scrape their inner world and be an example of a conscious individual. Artists are the leaders of the culture and they help steer the world into inner awakening. There is no form necessary, the artist can dance between mediums using life as an ever expanding canvas. The art becomes exploration of the inner world through its very creation. It lays bare what is always there just behind the blaring reality that keeps everyone asleep. It is a study of the subtle impulse that is the driving force of creation. It can startle the observer into stillness, the first step towards enlightenment. The art becomes a tool to liberate from fear and hate. It reveals the knowledge that there is nothing to seek, all that is required is you. You are the key to everything. You are pure potential and that potential is called enlightenment. We are the holy grail. Human beings, the holy temple of pure light. The seeking ends with you. The answer to all questions lies within the self and it is the artist that probes the inner world to discover that the answer is emptiness. It is an emptiness that can never be filled even though modern society tries to fill it with hollow materialism. The only way past it is to become one with it. Drop away from illusion and realize you are the divine creator of your world. We together are the multifaceted personality of the cosmic deity. Life is a joy that is to be experienced, to be celebrated. Artists celebrate life with their creation and are students of life on the journey to expose the inner workings of the starry dynamos. They become medicine workers to help the world heal from its oppression. They liberate the spirit so it can raise up and dance freely across the vast eternity of the sky.
As the shaman was community leader and healer, so is the artist. In this time of unparalleled communication, it’s the artist’s job to lead the world towards inner awakening, as it was the shamans job in the past. The shamanic artist facilitates community gatherings with the intention of spreading light and inward reflection. This starts in the local community. If the local community is not supported, then how can the world expect to be supported? When the community falls apart, the world falls apart. It is the community where the people live and it is the local community that can achieve true change. The community can support its people through co-operation. The community becomes a family where it is beneficial for neighbors to work together. The artist as shaman is a community organizer and helps pull the community together through hosting events. These events become a place where ideas are spread and the people of the community get to know others from the community. Through this interaction the people become more interconnected and these connections evolve into community action that helps the community work together. The people become co-pilots of the community through co-operation. Through this co-operation we become the stewards of the planet as we were meant to be. We dance ourselves into the future as we pass from the dark into the light upon the solstice of a cosmic knew year.
Some examples of artists who stepped into the role of shaman as healer and community leader are Allen Ginsberg, Alex Grey and Daniel Pinchbeck. Allen Ginsberg was one of the founding fathers of the Beat movement of the 1950′s and poet laureate of the psychedelic movement of the 1960′s. Through his work he helped establish the counterculture movement that strove for inner awakening. He helped establish Naropa in Boulder Colorado, the first fully accredited Buddhist university in the United States. Naropa is the home of the Jack Kerouac school for disembodied poetics, one of the top poetry schools in the United States. With his poetry he helped the world open up to its inner workings through his frank and fearless writing. He broke open the topic of homosexuality and helped bring about a liberation in expression through the court case against Howl, his first book of poetry published by the Holy Lawrence Ferlinghetti and City Lights Pocket Poets series.
Alex Grey is a contemporary visionary painter who shows the inner rhythms of the self and reality with his anatomically correct paintings of Human beings. He reveals the meridian pathways in which the energy of life flows and exposes the energetic principals that regulate life. He is also the founder of CoSM (“Chapel of Sacred Mirrors”) in Wappingers Falls, NY, 65 miles north of New York City. CoSM is a sacred space that strives to create a space for people to be inspired and live with more compassion and love. CoSM holds events such as Full Moon Ceremonies that are held to bring people together and open them to the mysteries of the self.
Daniel Pinchbeck is a contemporary author who’s works have a focus on 2012 and a shift of global consciousness. His is also a champion of entheogens as a tool used for awakening. In 2005 he was a cofounder of the Evolver movement, an organization created to help create a community of conscious individuals. Evolver.net is the social network for the movement. The movement sponsors gatherings called spores. These spores meet every third Wednesday and work as a catalyst for conscious gatherings in local comminutes. There are spores all around the world and are part of creating a community awakening on a global scale.
In this time of global communication, it’s the artist who can lead the way towards the inward reflection that is necessary to live a whole and complete life. As the shaman once led the community in the inner processes of self discovery, it is the artist of today that fulfills this role. As the shaman illuminated the inner world in the past, it’s the artist that illuminates it today.
In these times of chaos we need artists who are willing to stand up as leaders and heed the inner call to do the work of light as shaman artists healers. Open your inner eye to the silence that gently guides the world.
They Say The World Is Dancing To A New Vibration Today
Supposedly Singularity Is A Little Closer, I Think There Is Only Singularity
you just have to open your senses and feel it
know it with your entire being
once done there will be no barriers
all will be experienced as a connected whole
there will be nothing but a perfect unfolding
know thy self as divine truth of word love
play upon the cosmic playground
listen to the silent sounds of golden silence
the whisper of the stream
the rustling of trees upon the bank
slow lazy eternity of a magnetic dance
moves at the pace of the growing grass
mass takes place each and every moment
a holy existence that is a lesson in letting go
before we can awake into tomorrow
we must let go an d forgive the past
we are all the problem
we are all the solution
we can go nowhere till we go together
release from fear release from control
grow wild and free
dance naked in your soul
strip away the walls
embrace your entire being
hold on tight to the love
with a loose grip that lets the butterfly free
know that even when the sun is hidden
its golden rays still shine bright
there is no opposition
we have no enemies
know thyself and know all
open to your own divine truth
dance how only you know how
dare to dream bigger than life
go out and fail a couple times
walk silently in the woods
do anything at all
but first listen to your heart
feel your way along the journey
smile through the tears and
know that heaven is always near
peace and love for all,
