Lightning In A Bottle Just One Week Away!

Just One week until The Do Lab‘s Lightning In A Bottle kicks off the West Coast festival season in style. This Memorial Day Weekend is sure to be memorable, as the festival features an incredible lineup of diverse electronic music that would make it an essential destination in itself. Pretty Lights, Thievery Corporation, Bonobo, Beats Antique, Mimosa, Claude VonStroke, Heyoka, Phutureprimitive, The Malah, ESKMO and Emancipator are just the tip of the iceberg.. There is much more in store, however, from massive Burning Man - style art installations to theatrical performances from The Lucent Dossier Experience (A fascinating blend of dance and circus noir), fire dancers and other beautiful freaks, not to mention some really legit Speakers, Workshops and Yoga Instructors.. It will be a complete experience, stimulating many regions of the mind, body and spirit at once.

LIB is also part of the movement to make festivals sustainable and less damaging to the site and environment in general. Touted as “The Greenest Festival In America”, attendees are encouraged to “Leave No Trace”, and the atmosphere is sure to be a refreshing respite from the muddy fields of East Coast fests, strewn with thousands of beer cups, water bottles and balloons. Everything will be compostable, from cups to utensils, BioDiesel generators will be used for power, free water and mass transportation will be available and even the stages and art installations will be made mostly of recycled materials. So we can rage guilt-free!

Besides all of these exciting attractions and upgrades that make this so much more than a huge bass music party, I’m particularly excited about this event because of the wonderful people known to frequent it. It’s a more mature, experienced crowd full of artists and veterans of the scene. And everyone in SoCal seems to be tan and in amazing shape. No Scrubs!

There are also a bunch of new artists I haven’t been able to catch live yet that I’m psyched to see, including downtempo wizard Baths, grime-king Nasty Nasty, Portland Jazz Man Russ Liquid, the ever-sexy PantyRaid and newcomers Love and Light. I’ll be sure to grab some pics and video for y’all if you can’t make it, but if there is any way humanly possible, I suggest you do.

Grab your tickets now at, and get to the cutting edge of underground culture – participate in a vibrant social experiment and start the summer off right!
