Midlake – Roscoe (Beyond the Wizard Sleeve Remix)

Dusty Kid did an essential mix for BBC’s Radio 1 on 10/23/09. Of the tracks on the mix, one stood out as a clear favorite of mine and has been a part of my daily music rotation since I first heard it. It’s a song called Roscoe by Midlake who hails from Denton, TX. Dusty Kid’s essential mix had a remix of “Roscoe” done by Beyond The Wizard Sleeve which is a DJ duo comprised of Erol Alkan and Richard Norris. This song appealed to me because it sounds haunting, sexy, evil, eclectic. I hope more DJ’s catch on to it and provide further remixes (hint, hint Trentemoller).

As far as the essential mix goes, I liked portions of Dusty Kid’s mix. Because of this I cut the mix myself and am posting what I found to be the best part, which is a 30 minute chunk that lies somewhere in the middle of the two hour recording.
